Teddy in camoflaged Trap Feb 4, 2012

We wish to extend our appreciation to all of the kind folks who helped us find and capture Teddy. This was an amazingly difficult task. Bill Sawyer and his family, Jen Clark, Kim Enright and many others are to be especially commended for the tireless energy and expense put forth in 7 months of trailing, tracking, spotting, laying scent trails, positioning traps, speaking with local residents, putting up and taking down signs, driving hundreds of miles, and all of the endless tasks associated with tracking and trailing a dog in a wilderness area who wanted to come home, but whose instincts compelled him to hide. The successful outcome of this seemingly-impossible task was only made possible by the efforts of the people involved. Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who pitched in — and congratulations!

Teddy Captured!

After 7 months on the run in a Finger Lakes wilderness area, Teddy the Sheltie was finally captured on February 4, 2012, as a result of the tireless, on-going efforts of family, friends and community. He was reunited two days later with his grateful life companion, 85-year old Dorothy J. Sawyer, who was undergoing surgery when Teddy escaped on July 1, 2011. News crews were on hand in Marcellus, NY at the local veterinarian's office to record the events of a story that touched hearts and captured imaginations.

Teddy is a small Sheltie Collie who slipped his collar and ran away on Friday night, July 1.
He escaped in the vicinity of Singing Woods Drive off East Lake Road in Skaneateles, NY.

Teddy is very timid and frightens easily. He was spooked by the sound of 4th of July fireworks.
He ran into the nearby woods and is hiding. So far, we have been unable to coax him out.
He may be wandering and may show up in a back yard or along a pasture or hedgerow.

Teddy is the sole companion of our mother (who is currently in hospital). We've got to find him.
If you've seen Teddy or know someone who has seen him, PLEASE call or write.

IF SEEN DO NOT CHASE. CALL IF SPOTTED.

If you call and get the answering machine, please leave a message with your name,
phone number, and details — we WILL call you back promptly.
